TBR09 Excel at Formula Student Event
TBR09 came an excellent 4th place overall in the 2009 Formula Student competition at Silverstone. This result means that Team Bath Racing has now been crowned best UK team for the last 3 years and has now estabilished itself as one of the top Universities in the world in this competition.
After an average performance in the acceleration and skid pan events, TBR09 caught up on their rivals by getting 2nd place in the presentation event and winning the cost event and showed the cars true ability with a good performance in the sprint. This meant it all came down to the endurance event which took place under horrible conditions as rain was combined with oil when a competitor blew and leaked. The team excelled under these conditions and were leading the endurance (with all the big names having completed the event) and having set the fastest lap (in the oily conditions) for most of the day. Inevitiably the track cleaned up and dried up. The team agonisingly watched as their name tumbled down the timeheets. Despite this, and thanks to a strong showing in the fuel economy event the team finished a remarkable 4th overall, as in 2008. One can only wonder what could have been had it stayed dry…
TBR10 also competed at the competition in Class 3 and came a respectable 5th place. TBR10 were also placed as the top UK team in its class, however, the team felt they could have achieved greater things at this years competition and are now more determined than ever to win the class 1 event in 2010.
TBR was visited by Ross Brawn at the event as he wanted to cast his eye over the UK’s number one team. From this TBR got some BBC1 TV coverage which can be viewed on the Videos Section
