Classes & Points
Class 1 is the main event and consists of both static and dynamic events. To enter the event each car has to pass technical and safety scrutineering including a tilt test and a brake and noise test. The cars are entered into all 7 static and dynamics events and the cars are given points depending on their perfomance in that event.
Class 3 is a purely design based event and no components or cars need to be manufactured. Each team will only enter the three static events. Class 3 is mainly intended as an entry class for new teams but as Bath University have integrated Formula Student into their degree program, we use class 3 to give the 3rd year design team some expert feedback on their designs.
A formula student competition is divided in static events and dynamic events. Overall, there is a maximum score of 1000 points.
The static events include the Design Event (150 Points), Cost Event (100 Points) and Presentation Event (75 Points).
The dynamic events include the Skid Pad (50 Points), Acceleration (75 Points), Autocross (150 Points), Endurance (300 Points) Fuel Economy (100 Points)
