2020 brought a whole new challenge in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ensuing lockdown rendered the TBR20 team unable to complete the vehicle build and caused a shift to a virtual format in the 2020 Formula Student UK competition. Despite the difficulties that come with working remotely in a team across different timezones, the TBR21 Class 2 proposal incorporated new innovations such as CFRP rims and a rear-wheel steering system. The advanced design took home a first for the team – an overall outright win in FSUK2020. We also took second and fourth places respectively in the design and cost and manufacturing rankings.
